Our role
Scrub provides an integrated restoration service across the programme, bringing together specialist native plant production and experienced operational teams.
Our involvement includes
• Ecosourced native plant production and supply
• Site preparation and vegetation management
• Native planting and revegetation
• Ongoing maintenance of restoration sites
• Coordination and support for community planting events
• Project tracking and reporting
This integrated approach enables Scrub to manage the practical requirements of multiple restoration sites while maintaining consistency across plant supply, field operations and ongoing maintenance.
Coordinating restoration across a catchment
With more than 30 landowners involved, the programme encompasses sites with different landscapes, access requirements, planting schedules and restoration needs.
Individual sites range from smaller restoration areas requiring fewer than 1,000 plants to extensive planting programmes involving approximately 55,000 plants at a single location.
Scrub uses shared project-management systems to coordinate activities across these sites, providing Auckland Council and the project team with visibility over planting programmes, budgets and ongoing maintenance requirements.
This coordinated approach supports the delivery of a complex, multi-site restoration programme while allowing work to be tailored to the conditions and requirements of each property.
Building on a long-standing commitment
Scrub’s involvement in Mahurangi dates back to the original Mahurangi Action Plan, one of the company’s earliest restoration projects. Today, that long-standing commitment continues through the Mahurangi East Land Restoration Project, bringing together landowners, Auckland Council and experienced restoration teams to support the establishment and recovery of native vegetation throughout the catchment.
